I have to admit that I struggle to give a relaxing massage. I keep finding issues that I cannot resist treating and I am incapable of ignoring them!
I usually add massage to the sessions (I always do in the case of back treatment) but I rarely do it as a single therapy session as a massage therapist would do. I would feel the need to treat other underlining causes that are usually related to the musculoskeletal system, fascia, trapped nerves and of course joints.
In order to mobilise/manipulate joints I practise the English/Australian school of physiotherapy, using techniques like Maitland instead of the French school that implements osteopathy. Although I’ve had some training (and in some cases implement osteopathy techniques), it is just a matter of preferences.
